ALESSANDRO DI GIROLAMO earned a Master's Degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2021 from the University of Bologna and he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2019 from the same University. He is a phD student in Dr. Teresa Pellegrino group at IIT since 2021. The topic of his research in IIT is primarily focused on developing two types of nanomaterials for biomedical applications, specifically aimed at diagnosing and treating tumors. The first nanomaterial comprises copper-based and 64-copper-based nanoclusters (CuNCs and 64CuNCs), for diagnostic imaging and cancer therapy. The second is a multifunctional iron oxide nanocubes developed for pH-sensitive drug release in cancer treatment through a triple-modal approach, combining tumor targeting, drug delivery, and magnetic hyperthermia treatment.
